How to organize your small spaces

Author name

When you live in any size home, large or small, it’s important to have a smart organizational system in place. The fact is, we all have items that begin to accumulate in our homes. This can quickly become clutter, and who wants that? Not only does clutter take away from the look of your home, but it also takes away from the functionality of your space. Household organizing can be very satisfying and quickly become a habit! If you have piles of “stuff”, chaotic mornings, or you find yourself always searching for your car keys, check out this blog on easy and inexpensive ideas to re-organize your home.

Kitchen Organizing Ideas
Organize your kitchen cabinets into categories. Cups should be near your refrigerator for easy access and try setting up your utensil drawer near the sink or dishwasher to easily put them away after cleaning. Use an inexpensive plastic lazy-susan in the back of deep cabinets so that you can easily access things like jars or cans.

Only keep things on the counter that you use often. For example, if you drink coffee every morning, your coffee pot deserves to be a designated item on your counter. A toaster, which you may not use every day, might be able to be stored in a cabinet or closet and taken out only when used

Have a whole closet full of plastic grocery bags? Try stuffing all of the plastic bags into one and hanging it or, check out this affordable plastic bag organizer that we love from Walmart. Bathroom Organizing Ideas

Keep the majority of your bathroom items out of sight when they’re not in use. Buy a few plastic containers or a nice basket to store things like deodorant, personal hygiene items, razors, toilet paper, etc., and place the basket/s under your sink or in a shelving unit above your toilet. Simply, take the basket out when you need it, and store it away when you don’t.

Shower caddies are another great way to keep your bathroom products in order. They are essential for organizing your shampoo, conditioner, body wash, and more from taking over your whole shower. If you’re a crafty person, you can even make your own DIY shower caddy by reading this article.

To keep your bathroom functional and organized, try going through your items once per month and get rid of any old or less frequently used items that you rarely use. It might not be the most fun of household chores, but we all have to do it!

Lastly, use wall hooks to your advantage. Command strips are a great, non-permanent solution to keeping towels and bathrobes off of the ground. Adhere your command strip to the wall, the back of your bathroom door, or even inside of your shower to hang waterproof baskets or bathroom linens.

Closet Organizing Ideas

Begin by going through your closet and sorting your clothes by season. If you’re able to only keep “in-season” clothing in your closet, it will make your mornings a lot easier to find something to wear. Head to Walmart to purchase a few big storage bins to keep winter coats or off-season clothing in until you need it. You can even try finding shallow containers so that you can easily fit them under your bed.

Use a shoe rack. Rotate out-of-season shoes just like you do with your clothes. No need for multiple pairs of flip-flops in the dead of winter! Check out this article for solutions to shoe storage in small spaces. Another option to a shoe rack is a back of door shoe organizer. This will keep pairs of shoes together so that you’re not sifting through a big pile of shoes looking for the ones you desire to wear.

Use command hooks to hang things like hats, belts, or scarves. These can be temporarily adhered to the inside of your closet door, or even on a wall in your bedroom.

Try using vacuum-sealed storage bags to store any out-of-season clothes. This will allow you to store them in a tight or small space, freeing up more room in your closet.
